Penny Power and a Giveaway! from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Welcome to Wednesday. It's been a slow couple of days here at the Three Cats Ranch. I've been sidelined from my quilting project, but my wrist is improving slowly. The pain in the back of my hand has settled down. There's still some stiffness in my wrist, and so I'll just cool my jets for another day of not-quilting. There's plenty to do on my art quilt to keep me busy. On today's agenda I have one housekeeping chore and I want to walk on the treadmill. Also, I need ...

Gotcha Day Giveaway from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and a Happy Gotcha Day to this little person!

She was the sixth cat to join the Three Cats Ranch seven years ago. She was about a year old when we brought her home, and so we estimate she's about eight years old now...practically still a kitten! She's so excited you came to her party that she's sponsoring a giveaway at the end of this post.

But let's just hold on there a second because there's plenty of news to report from yesterday. Mike and I were out bright and ...

Another Tiny House and a Winner! from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! There's no time to waste on pleasantries this morning. It's time to announce the winner of my giveaway. Thanks to all who left such nice comments. I enjoyed reading all of them. Mr. Random Number generator has spoken. The winner is:

#66--Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting!

Congratulations, Cheryl! I've sent you an email, so check your inbox.

Okay. Ahem. Now...where were we? Oh yes. When we left off, I was heading for the farmer's market with Erik and Mae. We'd hoped for sunshine, but it was clouded over and chilly. Nevertheless, it ...

It's Good to Have a Friend (Giveaway to Follow!) from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Ahhhh...Saturday. It's a good day. Saturday might be my favorite day of the week, although I can't really tell you why. Possibly because it's the one day of the week I was able to sleep in as a younger person, and I grew fond of it for that alone. When I was a child, we attended Sunday school and church on Sunday. We went to two church services because my dad sang in the choir and my mom played the organ. And let's face it...when you're a kid, church ...

Tiny Sewing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Well, mind like a steel trap. When I wrote yesterday's post, I completely forgot there was a Tiny House waiting to be constructed. It was kind of a busy day in town. We made three stops before we got home. And then there were groceries to put away. And then, obviously, we needed naps. It was fairly late in the day before I made my way into the sewing room. There, my little helper was put out that we were doing paper-piecing yet again.

What? Papurr piecing? Is that all I'm good for these ...

Ready for Hand-Stitching from ... Cat Patches

My morning was busy yesterday. Of course, no day can get off to a good start without some slow-stitching. I stitched up the next section in my hoop.

I think that "Eeek" there is to remind me that I'm close to finishing this piece. All that remains now is to stitch to the upper right corner in the image below, and this one will be finished.

I'm happy to be nearing a finish since I was pretty sure this might be a life sentence of stitching, but there you go. Little by little, they get done. But in ...

12th Blogiversary Celebration Giveaway! from Cat Patches

Hey, dear friends! Happy Blogiversary to me! And to you for being my blogging friends!! It's so good to check in with you this and every morning. Let me just tell you what's going on around here, and then we'll get to the giveaway. Okay?

The biggest accomplishment yesterday was to finish off the sixth of seven rows of blocks on Ella's Flower Garden. I should easily be able to finish off the quilting today.

Here's how it's looking from the back. Can you see the four-petal flowers that form from those Terry Twists ...

Monday, Monday from Cat Patches

The quilting commenced on Ella's Flower Garden yesterday. It's going well so far. When I started, I was fairly certain of the motifs I wanted to use, but I was undecided on thread.

Originally, I thought I'd use all white. I wanted to quilt a flower into the large white areas, and then I'd planned to do a diagonal grid in all the patchwork. Something made me change my mind about the patchwork, though, and I decided instead to do "Terry Twists." I worried that too much white thread in the patchwork would be distracting and ...

Another Rainbow Finish from Cat Patches

The rain held off long enough yesterday for me to get out and deadhead the hydrangeas. It sprinkled a little while I was out, but with my hat and a thick sweatshirt, I only heard it, and barely felt it. That was another job I’ve been itching to get at. Next up will be to clean up the herb garden, which is still full of weeds and dead flowers from last year. It won’t be today though. This morning I’m going to the farmer’s market with Erik and Mae, which is always a good time. It ...

Back Home With a Giveaway from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're back home again, and settling back into our old routine...emphasis on the "old." There is still a little to do to bring our trip to a close...unpacking the camper comes to mind...but mostly, we're just soaking up what remains of fall in the Pacific Northwest.

Backing up to when we left Winnemucca, Nevada, I took almost no pictures on the way home. It was flat, flat, flat with the occasional butte thrown in for variety. The road was straight, straight, straight. Mike was happy to get into some winding roads ...
